Ferit Bey was the governor of Old Phocaea at the time of the ousting. He was removed by Talaat Pasha for supposedly failing to stop the Greeks from leaving, but his personal story – before and after– reveals a much darker tale than the one officially offered. Dr. Emre Erol explains.
